System administration

The goal of a system admin is to ensure that all software services offered by Rova digital are working seamlessly and smoothly. In this track the DiGAI girl is required to provide support in setting up the client in products Rova offers such as Zoho,Amazon web services, c-panel environment and such likes. She is also expected to provide maintenance to applications and software built by the projects team.To achieve this the DiGAI girl is taken through series of training through amazon web service(AWS).

Business In intelligence/ Data analysis

In this track data collected through Rova sports is analysed into meaningful information to enable management to make insightful. Tracking apps embedded into watches is a project by Rova Digital that will assist in the collection of this data. To ensure that the DiGAI girl has achieved deep knowledge in this,they are taken through training in zoho creator and AWS just so they understand the life cycle of the application and the process of converting this data into meaningful information.

Front - End development

A front-end developer handles the visual elements that users see and interact with. They deal with the graphical user interface (GUI) of websites and apps. In layman language the beauty of the apps and websites we use. Front-end development is a sensitive track as the DiGAI girl is expected to master all the rules of design keeping in mind people with disabilities. To train for this track ,she is taken through vigorous training and practice from the basics ,in this case poster designs for adverts and marketing.

Internet of Things(IoT)

The Internet of things describes the network of physical objects—“things”—that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet. In this track one is required to build apps and embed them into normal day to day objects. One project that is underway in this track is a security AI agent that can recognize and map faces to names. It is to be installed in cameras that will be used initially at Rova Digital offices and then later sold to different companies. Another one is a sports wrist watch for Rova Sports that will be collecting data such as heart rate, stamina, speed, etc. of the students during training. It seeks to help coaches to get info that will help in planning training. The DiGAI girl in this track also helps in facilitating the Kids Coding Camp usually held on the first Saturday of every month.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is the component of marketing that utilizes internet and online based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services. In other words, this track is the voice of DiGAI girls program. The girl taking this track is expected to advertise for both the program and Rova Digital. She is also the one who communicates with parents for the Kids Coding Camp program.

Quality Assurance

This is a way of preventing mistakes and defects in developed products and avoiding problems when delivering products or services to customers. The DiGAI girl in this track is expected to work hand in hand with the developer team and the project manager to understand the user requirements of the client and to check these requirements against the app developed to ensure that they (the user requirements) have been satisfied. To get here,she is required to understand the process and lifecycle of an application in development.

Mentorship

During their time in the program the DiGAI girls go through a series of stages in  their mentorship journey.

The value of mentorship cannot be overstated. Mentors share their expertise, knowledge and experience thus helping the mentee advance more rapidly in their selected paths. According to a Harvard Business Review article titled Mentoring Millennials, millennials account for more than half of the workforce globally. Some exciting traits that millennials possess include the need for constant feedback and a hurry for success.

Recognizing that millennials do indeed view work as part of life, the proposed mentorship program will consider what brings out the best of this generation to make their work experience fulfilling. The work-learn-earn-fun program is designed to enable the mentees to grow and connect to a larger purpose. To achieve this e-mentoring Africa, a mentoring company that offers a blend of face to face and online mentoring targeting youth and young professionals,has been outsourced.
